Perfect Homemade Belgian Waffles

895

The best Belgian waffles are soft, fluffy and crisp on the outside, which makes waffles the ultimate breakfast, brunch or dessert item. They are made from rich batter with vanilla extract and then cooked to perfection, golden brown. Serve them with fresh fruit, whipped cream or maple syrup to make a luxurious breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Two large eggs separated
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1/2 cup butter that is unsalted to melt and cool
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Spray for cooking or more melted butter for your waffle iron

Instructions

  • Preparing the waffle iron: Warm up the waffle maker compatible with the manufacturer’s directions.
  • Combine dry and wet ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Ready all the dry ingredients. Separately, mix together the egg yolks with milk, butter, melted and vanilla extract.
  • Combine dry and wet components: Pour the wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until mixed. Be cautious not to mix too much and some lumps can be okay.
  • Mix the whites of an egg: Clean the dry bowl and beat egg whites using the aid of an electric beater until peak forms.
  • Fold in egg whites. Fold the egg whites you beat in the batter until they are incorporated. This gives waffles an airy texture.
  • Make the waffles Make sure to lightly grease your waffle maker using cooking spray or melt butter. Pour satisfying batter into your hot iron waffle maker to fill the grid of waffles (about 1/2 – 3/4 cups depending on the dimensions of the iron). Cover the iron and bake compatible to the instructions of the manufacturer generally about three to five minutes, till the batter is crisp and golden brown.
  • Serve Remove the waffle carefully from the oven, and serve it immediately with your preferred toppings, like fresh strawberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar.
